In current macOS releases (Ventura/Sonoma), I’ve had this downside the place, once I reboot and log in, the Finder launches earlier than macOS has completed mounting my exterior (Thunderbolt) volumes. I do not know if it is as a result of I’ve quite a lot of exterior volumes or it’s for another cause, however I’ve had a lot of exterior volumes for a very long time and this by no means was an issue.
As a result of the volumes will not be (but) obtainable when the Finder launches, this causes the Finder to fail to reopen home windows displaying the contents of folders on these exterior volumes that I might need left open earlier than I rebooted. I even have shortcuts to such folders in my Finder toolbar, and due to the Finder launching too quickly, the shortcuts lose their icon and switch into query marks.
Manually relaunching the Finder on the finish of the login course of, when the volumes are all lastly mounted, does deliver the icons again within the Finder toolbar (as a result of, after all, the shortcuts now work correctly once more). However sadly it would not deliver again these Finder home windows displaying the contents of folders on the exterior volumes that I had left open once I rebooted. So these home windows are misplaced, and I’ve to recreate them manually, every time I reboot.
So my query is: Is there any strategy to delay the launch of the Finder at login in order that macOS has time to mount the exterior volumes, and in order that I don’t lose the Finder home windows displaying the contents of folders on the exterior volumes?
Thanks upfront.
